Chief's Message:

Welcome to the Hawarden Police Department's Web Page. I hope that you find these pages both informative and enjoyable. By hosting a web page we hope to make the community as aware of the Police Department as we possibly can by showing a listing of our services. Please take the time to browse the pages and learn about The Hawarden Police Department. If you have any questions or comments feel free to contact us.

The Hawarden Police Department serves the Cities of Hawarden and Ireton, Iowa. We are located in Sioux County, which is in Northwest Iowa. We are approximately 35 miles North of Sioux City, Iowa and 45 miles South of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The west edge of Hawarden borders the Big Sioux River, which divides Iowa and South Dakota. The City of Ireton is approximately 10 miles east of Hawarden. Our department currently has 4 full time, 1 part time and three reserve officers. These officers provide a variety of services to the community including routine patrol, door checks in the business district, public education, and crime prevention. We are also active in community wide drug enforcement through out membership with the Northwest Iowa Drug Task Force.
