Living WindowsMark December 6th & 8th, 2001, on your calendars now!! Thursday, December 6th, come downtown and take in the sights and sounds of Christmas at our ÒFestival of TreesÓ! See the beautifully decorated trees, wreaths, tabletops, stockings, and more! Bid on the miniature tree silent auction items! Listen to area musicians play and sing your seasonal favorites. Then, come back downtown on Saturday, December 8th, for ÒLiving WindowsÓ This year's theme is "A Storybook Christmas". Search each window for it's title. Lake a horse-drawn wagon ride, listen to costumed carolers, visit the live nativity (complete with camels), sip cider and cocoa, and bask in the magic of this special time of year! |
Fall Grass and Leaf Disposal |
Grass and Leaf disposal offeredThe City of Hawarden is making available a spot for grass and leaves starting Saturday, Sept 29th and continuing as long as the weather permits. An area has been designated at the old city landfill. It will be open on Saturday's from 10 am to 3 pm. Leaves, grass and tree limbs are the only things that can be dumped. Grass and leaves must be removed from plastic bags when unloading. The gate will be open and there will be a city employee on hand to direct people to the proper area for dumping. Hawarden Activities Update |
Activities UpdateHalloween Party: The City of Hawarden along with the Akron Westfield Community Ed. Program is sponsoring a Halloween party on Friday, October 26th from 4:00 6:00 p.m. The party includes a magician, games, crafts, and snack. The cost is $5.00 per student. This activity is for kindergarten through sixth grade. The deadline for registration is October 18th. The Jungle: On Friday, November 16th there will be trip offered to "The Jungle" located at "Thinker Toys" in Sioux City. The kids will enjoy an afternoon of playing games, climbing in the Jungle, and more! This activity is for 1st 5th grade students. The cost is $6.00. Deadline for registration is November 8th. Movie Night: There will be movies playing at the West Sioux High School auditorium on Saturday, November 17th for all West Sioux Middle School students. The movies will run from 7:00 10:00 p.m. Chaperones will be provided. Registration forms are handed out in school and can be dropped off with the school secretary.
