AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HAWARDEN AMENDING TITLE 9 CHAPTER 9.01 "GENERAL TRAFFIC REGULATIONS" BY ADDING SPECIFIC SPEED LIMITS FOR CERTAIN STREETS

BE IT ORDAINED By the City of Hawarden City Council as follows:

Section 1. That a Title 9, Chapters 9.01, Section 9.01.03 is hereby amended as follows:

9.01.03 Adoption of Additional City Traffic Regulations.

It is further provided that the City may, by legislation, from time to time, provide for additional traffic regulations in the interest of public safety, public peace, and general welfare in the community as provided for in Iowa Code Chapter 321.236. Such additional regulations are not intended to duplicate or overlap the material of the State code adopted by reference but instead to regulate areas not covered by the State code.

1. Street segments designated with a 30mph speed limit:
   1. Avenue E from 11th Street south to the railroad tracks.
2. Street segments designated with a 35mph speed limit:
   1. Highway 10 (10th Street) from Avenue P to Avenue L.
   2. Highway 10 (Avenue E) from 21st Street to 11th Street.
   3. 10th Street from the east side of the Big Sioux River Bridge to Avenue A.
   4. County Road K-18 from 16th Street to 12th Street
   5. 23rd Street from Avenue L to Avenue E
   6. County Road K-18 beginning 1250ft south of the south edge of pavement of Highway 10 and extending southward for a distance of 1,250ft.

Section 2. Repealer. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.

Section 3. Severability. If any section, provision, or part of this ordinance shall be adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole or any section, provision, or part thereof, not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional.

Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in effect after its final passage, approval, and publication as provided by law.
