Item 1. Call Center Prospect
The location of a potential call center company offering part-time jobs with a starting wage of $5.15 plus incentives and bonuses, but with no benefits was discussed. Incentives, quality of jobs, alternate locations, company longevity, and other potential recruits for the building were discussed.
The group decided to not to offer any financial incentives or the use of any of the City-owned spec buildings.
Item 2. Lamb Hide Facility Expansion
The potential expansion or relocation of the lamb hide plant was discussed. The current site, zoning, potential locations, financial incentives, design criteria, and other similar items were discussed.
The group decided to oppose the any expansion at the current site and to work towards one of three alternative sites and to offer financial incentives.
Item 3. Sale of Old City Hall
The potential sale of the old City Hall for renovation into upscale apartments was discussed. The sale price, incentives, tax base effects, construction costs, and other uses of the building were brought up.
The group decided to support the sale of the property for upscale apartments with incentives.
The next meeting of the Development Committee was set for April 16 at the Pizza Ranch.
Moved by Lubkeman/Woodley to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously. The Council Meeting adjourned at 1:05 p.m.
